Does The Gas Man provide central heating services in Newcastle?
Yes. Joe provides central heating, boiler and plumbing services in Newcastle upon Tyne, drawing on over 26 years’ experience. Tell him about your radiators, controls or heating problem through the enquiry form or call 0191 206 9040.
Which areas around Newcastle do you cover?
Our approximate local coverage includes Newcastle, North Tyneside, Cramlington and Blyth. Use the homepage postcode checker as an initial guide. It checks postcode districts, not live driving times. For other locations, call Joe to confirm whether he can take on your job.
Why are some radiators cold while others are hot?
Possible causes include trapped air, restricted flow, valve problems or a system that needs balancing. The pattern matters: tell Joe whether one radiator or several are affected and whether the problem is new. A diagnosis is needed before choosing a repair. See Baxi’s guide to cold radiators.
Why is a radiator cold at the bottom?
Deposits restricting circulation can cause cold areas at the bottom, but symptoms alone do not prove the system needs power flushing. Joe can assess the likely cause and discuss suitable cleaning or repair options. Read Baxi’s guide to cold radiators and our power flushing service page.
Is bleeding a radiator the same as balancing it?
No. Bleeding releases trapped air; balancing adjusts water flow between radiators. They address different problems. If you are unsure which applies, describe the heating pattern to Joe rather than repeatedly adjusting valves. See Baxi’s guide to cold radiators.
What do thermostatic radiator valves do?
Thermostatic radiator valves help regulate individual room temperatures by adjusting water flow through the radiator. They work alongside the rest of your heating controls. Avoid hiding them behind furniture or heavy curtains. See Energy Saving Trust’s heating controls guide.
Will turning the thermostat higher heat my home faster?
A higher setting normally asks the system to reach a higher temperature; it does not make a conventional thermostat heat the room faster. Set a comfortable target and a schedule that suits your routine. See Energy Saving Trust’s heating controls guide.
Can Joe help with heating controls or a smart thermostat?
Joe can discuss control upgrades and check suitability for your boiler and system before recommending a change. Send the boiler model and the name or a photograph of your existing controller with your enquiry. Compatibility and the scope of installation must be confirmed.
What is central heating power flushing?
Power flushing is a system-cleaning process intended to remove accumulated sludge and debris from heating pipework and radiators. Suitability depends on the condition and design of the system. See Baxi’s system cleaning guide and our power flushing page.
Does every heating problem need a power flush?
No. A faulty valve, trapped air or a control issue needs a different response. An assessment should establish the cause and whether cleaning is suitable before work is agreed. Baxi’s system cleaning guide explains cleaning methods and ongoing system care.
Can I replace a radiator without replacing the boiler?
Often this can be considered, but Joe will need to check the existing system, proposed radiator and pipe connections. Share the room dimensions, current radiator details and any comfort problems so he can discuss a suitable approach. Ask about radiator replacement.
Can a heated towel rail be fitted in my bathroom?
Joe can assess replacing an existing rail or adding one as part of heating improvements. The choice depends on the heating system, wall space, pipework and the room’s heating needs. A decorative rail is not automatically sufficient to heat every bathroom. Discuss a towel rail installation.
Why does my boiler pressure keep dropping?
A leak or another system fault may be responsible. Note any visible dampness around radiators or valves and tell Joe how frequently pressure drops. Follow your appliance manual and avoid repeatedly topping up without investigating the cause. See Baxi’s low-pressure guidance or request a boiler repair.
Does a boiler service include all my radiators?
A boiler service and a whole-system heating investigation are different jobs. Mention radiator or control problems when booking so the scope can be agreed. HSE advises annual servicing of gas appliances by a Gas Safe registered engineer. See HSE’s homeowner guidance and boiler servicing.
How can I check an engineer’s Gas Safe registration?
Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check their registration and qualifications for the work required. HSE explains how to use the official register to check an engineer. See HSE’s engineer-checking guidance.
How much will central heating work cost?
The price depends on the fault, parts, access and agreed work. Joe will need details before confirming a quotation; there is no single price that fits every heating job. Send your postcode, symptoms, boiler model and photographs where helpful through the contact page.
What information should I send before a heating visit?
Include your postcode, boiler make and model, the rooms affected, whether hot water still works, any displayed fault code and when the problem started. Mention leaks or recent changes. These details help Joe plan the investigation; they do not replace checking the system in person.
